What QR error correction means

QR codes include backup data so scanners can still read them when part of the code is scratched, printed softly, covered by a logo, or seen from a poor angle. Higher error correction improves resilience, but it also makes the QR pattern denser. Dense QR codes can be harder to scan when printed small, so choose the lowest level that fits the use case.

• Low works for clean digital QR codes shown on screens.
• Medium is a good default for normal links, documents, and labels.
• Quartile is useful for printed QR codes that may be handled, folded, or slightly damaged.
• High is best when adding a small logo or when the QR code must survive rough printing, but test it at the final size.
